If taking Catcher and the girls to Dunkin' Donuts on his birthday counts as birthday party #1 (I mean, anything involving donuts is a party in my book) then this afternoon we hosted birthday party #2 for Catcher and his soon-to-be three year-old sister, Scout. We got two cakes--vanilla for Catcher, chocolate for Scout--a couple sand buckets and some water toys, funky sunglasses, beers for the adults, goldfish for snacking before the cake, and we called up a couple friends to bring their kids to the pool this afternoon. Voila: instant party. Scout, whose actual birthday is this Saturday, now thinks she's three since there was a cake involved with the celebration.
